Alabel at Night

Glittering... that's how you'll see the facade of Alabel's Municipal Hall when darkness fill this progressing town of Sarangani Province. Being a sojourner to this simple yet friendly place, I feel at home and comfortable. Fortunately I stayed at the place near where their light a tree project is conducted as part of Christmas festivities. Every night I pass by the park, my eyes are allured to the twinkling lights of different colors. I couldn't help but to lavishly take shots of these fascinating lights. I feel like a moth that is a captive of the glow.

What made my birthday special?

December 3 was no ordinary day for me because it was my birthday. But just like any other day, I have to wake up early and prepare myself for work. I can't afford to take a birthday leave since I'm deployed in Alabel Branch as I recently assumed officially my duties in the manpower pool of our region last December 1. What really touched me was the number of text greetings I received from those who remembered me. I thanked too for those who called and emailed to express their good wishes. And of course to my parents who lovingly greeted me before I travelled. I owe my life to you Mamang and Papang and I will always love you!

Here are the text messages I find sharing…

Kanz: You will always be my friend wherever I am… wherever you are… even if it takes forever even if I see you never… You will always be a good friend longer than forever! Happy birthday!

Ma'am Rubz: I may not be the first one to greet you today but my prayer and wishes for you will surpass those of the rest even that of Kanz. Hapi bday Heinz!

Pinky: Understand how beautifully GOD has added one more day in your life, not because you need it, but because someone else needs YOU… Hapi bday!

Ma'am Clar: Today is another gracious gift from God… His mercies are new everyday… His faithfulness is great… May your days be full of His blessings… Happy Birthday!

Jing2X : Happy Birthday Tong! Wish you all the luck, good health and success in life.

Jolly: Gudmorning sir Heinz…J hapi birthday…J

Toto: Believe that the best will happen everyday, be aware that even trials are gift to make us strong enough to face life and trying times. Happy birthday Tong.

Dexter: Advanced happy birthday. God blez. More blessings to come.

Anonymous: Happy birthday Henro! More years, blessings, Mic……, Cha….., etc.

Etc… etc…

To those I forgot to mention, thank you! I know that those friends I haven't heard were just like me, busy as a bee, thank you!

Glad I’m Alive!

Life is precious. I cannot put in on or off. It is irreversible!

I was born in 1976, year of the dragon under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. According to astrologers, Sagittarians are fun-loving, philosophical, intellectual, straightforward and expansive. Some of these traits are true because I am very optimistic.

When I was young I was inquisitive. I threw many questions to my mother. She always had answers. When I asked her about events in the past she would tell me, "That happened when you were still water or soup." I always believe my mother because she is a retired elementary teacher. But sometimes she gets tired of answering my questions. There was this incident I will never forget. I am used to see chili pepper as red. When I saw a yellow one during a birthday party preparation of my younger sister, I asked my mom, "What's this color yellow? She answered me, "That's "kutitot", the sweetest pepper on earth. I got a piece of it and bit. Indeed, it was the "sweetest" pepper I've ever tasted that I cried because it was very hot! My mother gave me sugar to defuse the sensation.

It was a bitter experience. I accused my mother of fooling me. But she said, "I told you that it was the sweetest but I never told you to take it." Well, I took it literally. She was rhetoric when she said that. It was a learning experience for me.

I realized there's a lot to learn in life. I can FEEL a lot of emotions-happiness, sorrow, excitement, frustration, joy, disappointment, etc. I can TASTE a lot of flavors-sweet, hot, spicy, bitter, etc. etc. I can SMELL a lot of odors-fragrant, pungent, sweet, fresh, odoriferous, foul etc. I can HEAR a lot of sounds-music, noise, loud, soft, pleasing, cry etc. I can SEE a lot of views-beautiful, ugly, pretty, magnificent, etc. All experiences, whether good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant are part of life. They say that life is full of ups and downs. I will take everything because it will make me a better person.

Having this capability, I take responsibility for my life. I can hear from other people but in the end I will listen to myself. It's my life. I am born to express myself because my life is a gift for others.

I'm glad that a small drop of water before took its form and having space. I'm glad, I'm alive!

With Freddie at Tiana’s

11/30/08

Dear Blog,

I was surprised when Freddie or Jun, my high school best friend called me that he's here. We decided to meet at McGregor so I packed-up and went there but they were closing already. I waited for him in my car then a little later he arrived with cool wheels, Honda CRV. We decided to transfer in EMR but when he got near the roundball, he signaled to the left where we ended up at Tiana's. It was a wonderful opportunity that we got together again after a long time. We chatted about a lot of things, what we've been through and of course the updates of our classmates in high school. We missed a lot of things in the past most especially our group with Tony Juelo as 'gwapings' then. LOL! I wonder who gave us the name but that's how we were known by our classmates in high school because we always hang out together. That's the time when "The Gwapings Adventure" hit the big screen top billed by the hottest trio stars Jomari Yllana, Eric Fructouso and Mark Anthony Fernandez. We're a lot like them as teens in hanging out, always together. Our peers patterned our group to that and rest is history.

High school days were a lot of fun. Jun and I talked about our crushes and what happened to them. Funny how we reminisce those days! 'Twas good that I brought my laptop. We browsed the internet of the whereabouts of who-we-know before in Friendster. We saw their pictures and were surprised of how things emerged from the past.

As we've grown, Jun commented of his receding hairline. I just laugh. He compared that to my being youthful (I'm having a big heart!) I think it's due to the nature of our work because I'm always inside the office and he's in the battlefield.

Jun tried to contact Tony but the latter can't be reached. Perhaps, he's asleep 'coz it was already late. I told him that I tried to text Tony before but he did not answer.

It was my first time at Tiana's and the place is good to chill out. We haven't got inside but I saw through a glass it's modernity in style. One good thing is the wifi internet connection that is accessible wit a laptop. We talked about blogs and I told Jun that I got one. I showed to him this blog that he liked to create one. We browsed some of the blogs I followed. He got struck of the mountain bike of Allan because he's a mountain biker too. The pictures of sceneries in the blogs were fantastic.

We ended up when the crew informed us that they were closing at 12:00 am. We packed up.

I liked the coffee that we ordered. It made me awake 'til that time. As an early sleeper, I can't stand awake that late but with a coffee and a good friend, there seems no end. I got a little later to bzzzzzzzzzzzzz! when I finally got home.

Reunited again

Time flies. That's what I always say whenever I could not keep track of what's happening or I'm in the situation where just suddenly or surprisingly things just sprung up without noticing them. Oh! Being in that situation make me feel aghast. Huh! I wonder where I've been. Is this dejavu? Nah, I'm not dreaming 'coz it's true. I'm with my high school bestfriends, Tony and Freddie. Ooopps! Wait, I sensed something 'coz I'm not only with them but with their respective family. Waaah! I'm the only one left single but it doesn't matter. They might think I'm left-out but huh! I'm still enjoying my status.

After several years, it's the first time that our group met again. After Freddie and I met in Tiana's, we agreed to visit Tony the following day in Tacurong. With Freddie's newly acquired Honda CRV, we travelled together with his wife Sunshine and two daughters, Wawam & Bea and their so called adopted child whom I forgot to ask the name. When we arrived at Tony residence, we were welcomed by Tony and his wife. They have already four kids but only three were present because their second child was at Tony's parents-in-law. We were very happy that after long news block-out of each other's separate lives and concerns, we were connected once again. It's almost fifteen years since high school that the three of us were hanging out together and he we are with different interests or involvement. It's just comforting to recall that in the past, we were together, very simple and trudging similar paths but along the crossroads, we went to different directions. I was happy to see my bestfriends with their family coping very well. Though we have encountered many difficulties before in our studies, we were already able to set our sails to greater paths.
